Hair Mineral Analysis

Nutritional balancing operates on a simple basic principle: your body was designed to thrive in this world. Every part of it was made to work in harmony with every other part, and the whole was meant to help you, as an individual, thrive and live in health. If your body is not performing optimally and you are experiencing poor health, it is because something is interfering with its ability to do its job. Nutritional balancing is about determining what is preventing your body from performing as it wishes to, and removing those obstacles one by one.

Nutritional balancing is ideal for those who are experiencing digestive issues, chronic fatigue, Lyme disease, diabetes, symptoms of pyroluria, mental illness, depression, chronic headaches, PMS, mood swings, joint pain, thyroid issues, and a variety of other recurring or chronic ailments.

In my Nutritional Balancing Program, guided by Dr. Larry Wilson, I will determine your ideal diet, better living habits, nutritional supplements, and detoxification procedures that are ideal for you and your body's biochemistry. We'll determine these principles through a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, and create a full program from the information gathered in that test.

Hair Tissue Analysis

Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA), is a sophisticated screening test used for assessing mineral imbalances and toxicities in the human body. HTMA test results provide detailed information about an individual's unique biochemistry. Among other contributing health factors, HTMA can indicate the nutritional content of body tissue, the presence of toxic heavy metals, the ratio of nutrients to heavy metal toxins, and the metabolism or oxidation type.

Hair tissue mineral analysis or HTMA is a soft tissue mineral biopsy that uses hair as the sampling tissue.  A biopsy is an analysis of a body tissue.  Hair is considered a soft tissue, and hence hair analysis is a soft tissue biopsy.

Most physicians, nutritionists, dietitians and some naturopaths have been brainwashed by a few, well-publicized “hatchet jobs” that were purposely designed to discredit hair mineral testing.  This is similar to the propaganda that discredits chiropractic, for example, and other non-conventional methods of healing that work well cost little, and threaten the drug and medical device industries.

Nutritional imbalance can occur for a variety of reasons, usually related to diet or exposure to toxic metals in your environment.

Poor lifestyle or diet, high stress, and exposure to high levels of pollution can also cause imbalance, as can certain prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements like diuretics, antacids, aspirin, and contraceptives. Even your genetics may predispose you to certain mineral imbalances if your parents also suffered from the same problems.

Nutritional Balancing restores the body, but in so doing, it opens the mind to evolve far beyond what is usually possible in a standard lifetime. A fully functioning body frees your brain to increase its capacity, and people who have followed this program for a few years find they are far more sophisticated in their thinking and awareness than they were before.

It is, quite simply, a completely life-changing program, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Very simply, if you have been experiencing symptoms that no one can explain or a recurring illness that you’ve had to treat your entire life, such as weight issues, blood sugar problems, fatigue, depression, stress, personal traumas, thyroid issues, gut issues, any kind of addiction, symptoms of pyroluria, emotional or physical problems, hormonal imbalances, or you are exercising simply to keep your weight down and spent thousands of dollars on different remedies to stay fit and healthy, then you should consider a hair mineral analysis or also referred to a hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA).

This test is a simple way to determine if your symptoms are related to a mineral imbalance in your body. It tests for 21 nutritive and toxic minerals to see if there is any deficiency or excess and uses that information to create a sophisticated blueprint of your biochemistry. With this blueprint, we can create a plan for re-balancing your body’s chemistry, restoring it to optimal function.

The late Dr. Paul C. Eck and Dr. Lawrence Wilson have established that there are reliable relationships between the levels of minerals in the hair and other tissues of the body. The Environmental Protection Agency also uses human hair to monitor high-priority toxic metals in the body, and many other studies have found that human hair may be a more appropriate tissue than blood or urine for studying exposure to some trace elements. Human hair testing to corroborate or expand on diagnoses is ordered on 150,000 people every year.

For example, if your hair shows an elevated calcium level three times the norm, then your calcium level within your body is likely also elevated. Calcium plaques in the body harden the arteries and lead to arteriosclerosis, which would explain your lifelong high blood pressure with no apparent cause. Since hair mineral analysis is more accurate than blood analysis, it can often find problems that aren’t evident through most commonly performed medical tests.

A Hair Mineral Analysis shows the specific nutrients you need to optimize your unique biochemical profile, helping your body manage persistent toxic exposures you experience daily.

We’ll also determine your oxidation type and give you a better understanding of how well your adrenal and thyroid glands are functioning in response to stress, diet, food supplements, and medications.

We’ll use all this information to create a program that will allow you to balance your biochemical profile and give your body the tools it needs to overcome disease by itself.

Previously, you may have been able to maintain “artificial health” through medications or procedures. In contrast, this is “natural health,” where your body starts functioning at its normal levels of capability, keeping you protected from disease and ensuring your organs are all working properly.

.What Can Hair Analysis Reveal?

I am a Licensed Massage Practitioner, who would like to give you the opportunity to consider taking a closer look at what your body may be storing or lacking. For many years, I just like many of you, have spent 1000’s of dollars taking supplements that I wasn't’ even sure if they were really what my body needed. After seeing my first hair mineral analysis report, it was apparent that I was causing more harm than good. I am excited to be able to provide you with affordable tools and knowledge. It is my pleasure to guide you on your path to creating balance and peace in your body at a cellular level, with the assistance of knowledgeable and experienced doctors at ARL Laboratory.

What Does An Analysis Provide?: You will receive from the LAB the only complete individualized test interpretation by the method developed by the late Dr. Paul C. Eck, the founder. I will meet with you to interpret this 15-20-page report. The story is unique as it includes information related to one’s metabolic rate, energy levels, sugar and carbohydrate tolerance, immune system, autonomic balance, glandular activity and metabolic trends, a personal dietary supplement program, basic diet recommendations and other information that can be inferred from the test results.

However, a hair tissue mineral analysis is much more than a test for minerals. It Provides a blueprint of one's biochemistry, and a hair tissue mineral analysis can provide pertinent information about your metabolic rate, energy levels, carbohydrate tolerance, stage of stress, immune system and glandular activity. This screening test can also be used to reduce the guesswork involved when recommending nutritional supplements and dietary modifications.

A new method of therapy for mental and emotional illness. Correcting sometimes relatively simple nutritional imbalances indicated on a hair mineral analysis often lessens or even eliminate emotional and behavioral symptoms and conditions. A hair analysis is a cost-effective, non-toxic and much-needed newer approach to the care of mental and emotional illness.

A new way to improve humans in the future. Hair analysis reveals that many health problems are due to deficiencies and toxic metals in the mothers-to-be. These imbalances are passed directly to their children through the placenta during gestation. These are called congenital irregularities to differentiate them from genetic problems.

Nutritional balancing science can often quickly identify these imbalances in the mothers-to-be, either before they become pregnant or when they become pregnant. It can also guide the restoration of improved health so that imbalances are not passed on and the children are born healthier and happier.

What is a Tissue Mineral Analysis? A trace mineral analysis is a test which measures the mineral content of your hair. Mineral content of the hair reflects the mineral content of the body tissues. In other words, a hair mineral analysis is a biopsy of your organs, including the brain tissue. If a mineral deficiency or excess exists in the hair, it usually indicates a mineral deficiency or excess within the body or bio-unavailability. Example: If your hair reveals an elevated calcium level two or three times normal, then your calcium level within the body may also be elevated. If this is the case, a strong tendency exists for arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries due to calcium plaques). Various mineral imbalances, as revealed by hair analysis frequently lead to metabolic dysfunction before any symptoms become manifest.

Other conditions which may result or be aggravated by a mineral imbalance are:

Is Hair Analysis A Valid Basis For Evaluation Of A Person's Chemistry? Blood tests and urine tests obviously provide important information about a person's biochemical status, but they only evaluate the fluids in the body. However, the vast majority of biochemical functions take place inside the cells themselves. Of course, we can't conveniently take snips out of the various organs of a person's body to evaluate what is going on in the cells, but there are cells conveniently available to us, the cells of the hair. Through extensive research and correlation of data, it has been established that there are strong relationships between the levels of minerals in the hair and other tissues of the body. Thus, analysis of the mineral content of an individual's hair can provide us with a general 'blueprint' of the mineral content in the rest of the body's tissues. Since these minerals are crucial to the functioning of enzymes, hormones and other biochemical systems which sustain life, it is possible to read this 'blueprint' and see where metabolic patterns are deviating from normal.

Another benefit of hair analysis is that it may be used to assist the health care professional to pinpoint the development of metabolic dysfunction often before symptoms manifest. While mineral imbalances in the body do eventually show up in the blood serum, they will not do so until the condition is so advanced that the individual is often experiencing overt symptoms. Tissue mineral analysis allows us to determine that an imbalance exists before the imbalance begins to manifest disturbances on a symptomatic level. Therefore, the imbalance can often be corrected through nutritional therapy even before a person begins to suffer from metabolic symptoms.

Hair Collecting

The accuracy and reliability of the test results and interpretation is based upon receipt of a properly collected hair sample that is clean and free from external contaminants.

I Have Bleached/Dyed/premed hair. Will this affect the results?
Some labs recommend that the hair will not be accepted if it has been treated, but we have found that it does not influence the test so much that you need to wait for weeks for months before getting your hair tested. You should wash it at least four times after your hair treatment. The hair sampling instructions you will receive will also contain other factors that may influence the results, and what to do about them, including the use of certain shampoos and water softeners. Additionally, the hair should be washed within 48 hours. This means your hair can be washed on the same day or a day or two before sampling your hair. Wash the hair with a plain shampoo, and then let it dry for at least 4 hours. Use a plain, simple shampoo, if possible. If possible, do not add conditioners and other products to the hair after washing it on the day you will take the sample. There are several cautions and concerns regarding hair products. Most shampoos and conditioners do not contain metals and will not affect the accuracy of the analysis. However medicated shampoos of concern are:

  • Selsun Blue (selenium)
  • Head and Shoulders (zinc)
  • Grecian Formula (lead and iron)
